  • Role of the Executive Secretary

    The Executive Secretary is appointed by the Development Committee and is responsible to the Committee for carrying out the work directed by the Committee. The Executive Secretary also carries out the various daily tasks of the Committee related to the increasing number of development issues, as well as the coordination of international efforts to finance development.

Responsibilities of the Executive Secretary

The position of Executive Secretary, as outlined in the parallel resolutions of 1974 and the administrative arrangements of 1979, has two major objectives:

  1. To assist the Chair of the Committee, the Managing Director of the Fund and the President of the World Bank in ensuring the effectiveness of the Development Committee.
  2. To plan, organize and report on the work of the Development Committee.
